Bonifacio Global City is one of Metro Manila’s favorite places to propose. It is walkable, beautiful at night, full of restaurants and rooftops, and easy for friends and family to reach if you want them there. Here is how to plan a surprise proposal in BGC, step by step, and how to get the flowers right.
Step 1: Choose the kind of proposal
Before you pick a place, decide on the feeling. Does she love a big moment with friends watching, or would she rather it be just the two of you? Your answer decides almost everything else.
- Intimate: a private dinner, a quiet rooftop, a walk that ends somewhere meaningful.
- Public: a busy street, a park at night, with friends hidden nearby.
- At home: a condo set up with flowers, candles and balloons when she walks in.
Step 2: Pick the spot
BGC has options for every style. Bonifacio High Street is lively, with open lawns and restaurants on both sides. Rooftop restaurants and hotel bars give you a skyline view and privacy. The Venice Grand Canal area at McKinley Hill has a romantic, European feel. And a condo in the city lets you control every detail.
Whatever you choose, visit at the same time of day you plan to propose. Check the lighting, the crowd and where a photographer could stand.
Step 3: Talk to the venue
If you are proposing at a restaurant, hotel or rooftop, call ahead. Tell them it is a proposal. Most venues will help with a quieter table, the timing of dessert, or a place to hide flowers until the moment. Ask about their rules for decorations, balloons and outside deliveries.
Step 4: Plan the flowers
Flowers are the part she will see in every photo, so they deserve some thought.
- The bouquet you hand her: red roses are the classic. A grand bouquet of 99 or 100 roses makes the moment unforgettable.
- The setting: a few arrangements on the table or around the spot. Our signature arrangements are designed to be seen from every side.
- Balloons: a cluster or a bubble balloon that says “Will you marry me?” makes a strong backdrop. See balloon arrangements.
- A keepsake: a rose bear lasts for years after the flowers fade.
Order at least two to three days ahead for large rose counts. Tell us the venue and the time, and we coordinate with the staff so everything is in place before she arrives.
Step 5: Get the timing right
Plan the evening backwards from the moment. If you want sunset light, propose about 30 minutes before sunset. If you want city lights, aim for after dark. Have the flowers delivered at least an hour before you arrive, and keep a friend or the venue staff in charge of hiding them.
Step 6: Capture it
She will want to see it again. Hire a photographer, or ask a friend to hide nearby with a phone on video. Agree on a signal, so they know exactly when to start recording.
Step 7: Have a plan B
Rain happens in Manila. If your spot is outdoors, have an indoor backup, like a restaurant table or a hotel lobby, and tell your florist so the flowers can be redirected.
